Notice on “Radio Transmission Modular Approval for non-independent Operation” Radio Type Approval Management

To Radio Management Offices (Bureaus) in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and Radio Monitoring Center at national level: 
In order to meet the radio technology development in our country and regulate radio transmission modular Radio Type Approval for non-radio transmission end-product (For ITE, household products) embedded with Radio modular, this document is issued as below. 
 
1. Intergral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular  
 
1.1 For “Integral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular”( see annex 1 for the definition), it is required Radio Type Approval separately. SRRC certificate will be issued if it can meet Radio technology and standard requirement. The certificate number should be marked in striking position. Modular manufacture should indicate clearly for the usage situation and detail configuration in technical manual. Also modular manufacture is responsible to the technical compliance of standard and regulation for final using”. 
 
1.2 For end product embedded with “Intergral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular”, below information should be marked in label or user manual. “ This product has SRRC approved Radio modular whose CMIIT ID is XXXXYYZZZZ” 
 
2. Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular  
 
2.1 “Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular”( see annex 1 for the definition) can apply for SRRC approval separately. SRRC certificate will be issued if it can meet Radio technology and standard requirement. “M” mark will be followed with CMIIT ID number. Modular manufacture should indicate clearly for the usage situation and detail configuration in technical manual and declare “Modular approval does not means end product can meet Radio management regulation or standard. End product manufacture is responsible to the technical compliance of standard and regulation for final using”. 
 
2.2 End product embedded with “Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular” should apply for SRRC approval separately. If the modular has been approved, only related emission test is required. Once end product is approved, the CMIIT ID should be marked in striking position. The end product certificate will indicate the modular approval number too. 
 
2.3 End product requires to re-apply new certificate once it add or exchange the “Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular”. After related testing, application documents in annex 2 are required to provide. The modular approval number in end product certificate will be updated. End product can use the same approval number still. 
 
2.4 Series models with same “Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular” can apply for one certificate. Once approval number will be issued for series models. 
 
2.5 End product embedded both “Intergral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular” and “Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular” should apply for new certificate. Approved “Intergral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular” is no need retesting.

Annex 1 
                                                                       Definition of Radio transmission modular 
 
1. Non-independent operation Radio transmission modular means:  
It can not working separately and should be embedded to other end product for working(transmission). 
2. Integral non-independent operation Radio transmission modular means: 
  With data amortize/modulation unit 
  With completely shielding for the RF unit 
  Integrated antenna  
  Clear power supply requirement 
  Comply with related law and regulation 
3. Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular means: 
Modular can not comply with any one of above 5 items. 
 
Annex 2 
                                                                 Application documents for modular approval 
 
Below documents are required for end product application embedded with Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular. 
1. Copy of SRRC certificate for Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission 
modular. 
2. Circuit diagram for how to use or embed the modular Below documents are required for end product application which wants to add or exchange Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular. 
1. Copy of end product certificate during application (Original certificate should be returned 
once new certificate is issued.) 
2. Copy of old Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular certificate. 
3. Copy of New Limited non-independent operation Radio transmission modular certificate 
4. Circuit diagram for how to use or embed the new modular
